Kathy Long - Storyteller

Welcome to my web page. I am very new at all this technology stuff. I am a storyteller. Which means I am very “low tech”. When I began storytelling many years ago. I read books to children. I brought them to life by actively reading them. Then I started telling personal stories. I even tried writing some children’s books. I self-published two, “Taylor Twinkle Finds a Home” and “Living in Harmony”. Taylor became quite a Christmas classic and now that I am running very low on copies, I am thinking about a second printing. However, the reason I stopped printing books in the first place, was the cost factor. I was and still am hoping that someone in the publishing business sees or hears one of my stories and would like to publish them, instead of me outlaying all that money.

I have recently released two storytelling CD’s. “The Legend of Glen Onoko and Other Stories,” and “Mangos & Pickles & Spiders Tales for the Holiday Season.” The Christmas one has one legend and all the others are my original stories. The Glen Onoko CD has two original stories and the others are legends.

I am well-known for my cute rendition of folk tales, my holiday stories (I try to create a new one every year for my annual visit to Eckley Miners’ Village.) I also create a new ornament each year and a story goes along with that. I do Life Journaling presentations which include personal stories, many times about Hess’s department store. I also have a bully program. I tell stories to the young and young at heart. Which means I go into every place from nursery schools to nursing homes.
